We Skipped Pandora-and Found Animal Kingdom's Hidden Gem!

While most guests rushed toward Animal Kingdom's biggest headliners, I chose a different path - and rediscovered one of the park's most overlooked experiences.
Using the 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry benefit, I entered Disney’s Animal Kingdom at 7:30 a.m. and enjoyed low crowds, cooler summer temperatures and wait times of 15 minutes or less. Our morning included Kilimanjaro Safaris, a nearly walk-on ride at Kali River Rapids and unexpected encounters with Mickey, Minnie and Russell.

But the real surprise was Maharajah Jungle Trek.

This beautiful walking trail near Kali River Rapids features tigers, enormous Malayan flying foxes, Asian birds, detailed ruins and peaceful pathways that are easy to overlook when you’re rushing toward the next attraction. It reminded me that some of the best experiences at Walt Disney World aren’t always the ones with the longest lines

The American Adventure: EPCOT’s Most Overlooked Imagineering Masterpieces

You’ve probably walked past The American Adventure at EPCOT… but this opening-day attraction may be one of Disney’s greatest hidden masterpieces.

In this episode of Finding Your Disney, we take a closer look at The American Adventure in EPCOT’s America pavilion — how it was created, when it opened, why Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain guide the story, what made the show such a major Disney Imagineering achievement, and how it has changed over the years.

From 35 Audio-Animatronics figures and moving stage sets to digital projection, patriotic music, and the powerful “Golden Dream” finale, The American Adventure is much more than a place to sit down and cool off. This classic EPCOT attraction opened with the park on October 1, 1982, and still represents the heart of what original EPCOT Center was created to be: storytelling, culture, innovation, history, and reflection.

If you love EPCOT history, Walt Disney World attractions, Disney Imagineering, World Showcase, or classic Disney storytelling, this is one show you may want to look at differently the next time you visit. Have you seen The American Adventure at EPCOT? Is it a must-do for you, or do you usually skip it? Let us know in the comments!
